Exterior Wood Paint Colours
ProteK provide a massive range of wood paint colours stain and are regularly used by customers wanting to freshen up the garden fence or shed. Why not take some inspiration from ITV's Love Your Garden, by painting woodwork with Protek products when doing a garden makeover. Incorporating darker tones like black, dark green or deep brown will create a contemporary contrast. Alternatively, think of soft and subtle shades of white, blue, and grey for a calming and peaceful atmosphere. These colours are ideal for creating a minimalist look and adding a touch of refinement and sophistication to any space
Which wood paint colour should I choose?
If you don't have a preference then go with an exterior colour that won't need too many coats and won't show dirt as easily. Basically most light colours will show the dirt and odds are you're garden will get dirty. Usually something like a medium or dark blue shade looks great. They also have the added advantage of needing less coats to create an opaque finish. Anything medium to dark would be a smart color to choose.

What wood paint colours do the experts choose?
The experts on ITV's Love Your Garden often choose darker wood paint colours for the fence and the shed. That way they can control the colours with the planting and garden furniture. Using the same solid colour on the main items provides continuity, and you would usually look to compliment the planting colours rather than clash outrageously. Popular fence colours are greens, blacks and greys, however natural stone and cream also go well if you reverse the colour theme and have really strong planting colours as your main focal points.
What about wood paint colours for furniture?
This is where you can truly have some fun. Bright colours can really stand out, and contemporary colours blend in, so it's really down to your particular taste.
Whatever the colour choic, we recommend Royal Exterior for wooden furniture, as it will withstand the usage for several years. The Royal Exterior range also has natural colours such as Oak, Walnut, Teak and Hazelnut, along with a clear finish if you don't want to change the colour at all. That said, why not be BOLD

What is a wood stain?
A wood stain allows you to see the grain of the wood through the treatment that you have just applied. The advantage of seeing the wood grain is especially required on timber such as Cedar, Oak, Elm, and other hardwoods. This allows their natural beauty to shine through whilst still being protected against the elements.

What is a wood paint?
A wood paint is especially for those looking to change the colour of the timber. This is quite popular when doing a garden makeover, however you may still see the grain of the timber on some products. Additional coats will create a more opaque finish, however the more expensive paints will require less coats and provide a superior look.
